In the book\u2019s introduction, Fiona Rogers writes, \u201cIf \u2018greatness\u2019 has long been defined by visibility and remembrance, then the continued documentation and celebration of women\u2019s photographic practice is not only relevant but essential.\u201d Slated for release on October 14, 2026, the title continues the publisher\u2019s focus on art histories too often underrepresented.<\/p>\n<p>As the fourth volume in Phaidon\u2019s series dedicated to influential women in the arts, <em>Great Women Photographers<\/em> follows <em>Great Women Artists<\/em>, <em>Great Women Painters<\/em>, and <em>Great Women Sculptors<\/em>. The new book highlights more than 250 women in the field and is organized alphabetically by name. Each entry pairs recently commissioned texts by leading scholars with iconic images, presenting a cross-section of practices that, as the publisher notes, offers \u201ca new lens on the world, inviting readers to discover, engage with, and be inspired by the work of some of the world\u2019s greatest image-makers.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:left\">Scope, structure, and selected works cited<\/h2>\n<p>The volume ranges across photojournalism, editorial portraiture, cameraless images, and conceptual landscapes.
