Commissioned by <strong>Bulgari<\/strong> as part of its <strong>Serpenti Infinito<\/strong> series, the temporary installation invited visitors to step inside an enormous gold coil titled <em>\u001cauroBOROS: Urban Memory and Collective Dream\u001d<\/em>. Conceived by artists <strong>Marco Canevacci<\/strong> and <strong>Yena Young<\/strong> of the studio <strong>Plastique Fantastique<\/strong>, the work transformed a stretch of the elevated park on Manhattan\u0019s West Side into a walkable, portal-like experience.<\/p>\n<p>The High Line, which runs from <strong>Gansevoort Street<\/strong> near the <strong>Whitney Museum of American Art<\/strong> to <strong>34th Street<\/strong> near <strong>Hudson Yards<\/strong>, set the stage for the gleaming intervention. For nearly two weeks, <em>\u001cauroBOROS\u001d<\/em> was wedged beneath a raised building, its looping form introducing a moment of playful tension as the coil seemed to buttress the overhead structure. The title reaches back to the ancient <em>ouroboros<\/em> motif\u0014a snake devouring its own tail as a symbol of life\u0019s continual cycles\u0014a pointed nod to Bulgari\u0019s snake-themed jewelry line celebrated by the Serpenti Infinito initiative.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:left\">Walking the coil<\/h2>\n<p>Visitors encountered <em>\u001cauroBOROS\u001d<\/em> as an oversized, shimmering conduit, an invitation to move through its curves and momentarily inhabit its metallic rhythm. The work\u0019s positioning under the building heightened the drama of the site: the coil caught the light and visually pressed upward, blurring the boundary between sculpture and the surrounding architecture.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:left\">From past loops to a U.S. debut<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u001cauroBOROS\u001d<\/em> marks the <strong>first time Plastique Fantastique has exhibited in the U.S.<\/strong> While new to this setting, the studio has explored related ideas with earlier installations, including iterations of an architectonic gold loop titled <strong>\u001cRINGdeLUXE\u001d (2023)<\/strong>, which has encircled bridges with the appearance of a kind of cosmic portal.
