Ground breaks on The Mets Tang Wing, a 12,000-square-meter expansion for modern and contemporary art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has begun construction on the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing, a roughly 12,000-square-meter expansion for modern and contemporary art led by Frida Escobedo and targeted to open in 2030. Funded in part by a USD 125 million gift from Oscar L. Tang and Agnes Hsu-Tang, the project adds nearly 50% more exhibition space and reorients access toward Central Park and the Upper East Side.
Amorphous Color and Squiggles: Emmy Star Brown’s Urban Murals
Chicago-based artist Emmy Star Brown creates large-scale murals of vibrant, amorphous shapes, squiggles, and occasional geometric lettering across interior and exterior surfaces. Her work—rooted in visual communications and advertising—is currently on view alongside Danym Kwon in The Peace of Wild Things at Joy Machine.
Cilia Take Top Honors in Nikon’s Small World in Motion’s 16th Year
Nikon’s Small World in Motion concluded its 16th cycle with top honors to Dr. Ning Xu (China) for a video of abnormally beating airway cilia from a child with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD). More than 340 entries from 40 countries were evaluated, with additional recognitions highlighting subjects from jellyfish larvae to MSG salt crystals.
