Curator

Elvia Rosa Castro is a Cuban independent curator and art critic writer based in North Carolina with 30 years’ impassioned experience in conceiving and launching significant, acclaimed exhibitions in Cuba, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, and the United States. MSc. in Art History, University of Havana (2000). Degree in Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy and History, University of Havana (1991). She has published over 100 papers in ARTECUBANO Magazine, Cuban Art News, ArtNexus, Rialta, El Estornudo, and On Cuba, negotiating the complex political landscape to best represent the artists and to educate diverse audiences. Elvia is the founder and CEO of El Sr. Corchea, an independent blog and a fan page created to promote visual artists and writers. In 2006, she was awarded the National Prize for Curatorship together with designer Osmany Torres for the exhibition SOLUCIONE(ES); and in 2011, she obtained the National Art Critic Prize Guy Pérez Cisneros in the review category.

Curator

Curator, appraiser, and cultural manager with over 40 years of experience in the visual arts, trained in Art History at the University of Havana. She has directed key institutions and galleries in Cuba and Panama, including the National Directorate of Visual Arts at the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, the UNEAC National Gallery, and Galería NG in Panama. Co-founder of Subasta Habana, and curator of projects such as HB (running parallel to the Havana Biennial) and Post-it, dedicated to emerging art, she has participated in international art fairs in the United States, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, France, and Denmark. She is the author of essays in exhibition catalogs published in several countries and a lecturer on the contemporary art market. A member of the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists (UNEAC), her work seeks to give meaning, context, and permanence to what art reveals.

Artist

Rafael Pérez Alonso is a self-taught Cuban visual artist, born in Havana in 1965, whose work explores insularity, identity, and memory through drawing and sculpture. He is exhibited and represented by Echo Art Foundation, which showcases his multidisciplinary practice — rooted in Cuban symbols like the Royal Palm — to a wider audience. He currently lives and works between Havana and Madrid.
