Clio Sze Tos forthcoming solo exhibition 3Cstrong C Echos 3C/strong C distills the way she moves through her home city of Paris: unhurried, observant, and attuned to fleeting atmospheres. The painter sets out with an open agenda, collecting photos on her walks that later seed impressionistic canvases. The resulting works fold together passersby, the pulse of changing seasons, and the time of day into scenes animated by dappled light and hazy shadow.
From the walk to the canvas
Back in the studio, Sze To translates those urban fragments into stylized composites that emphasize how illumination reshapes the city. The shifting light of dusk, the hazy glow of street lamps, and the dance of shadows as sun filters through a tree 19s canopy become active forces in the compositions. Early on, she considered titling the body of work Bulles ( 3Cem C Cbubbles 3C/em C), drawn to how a thin, translucent membrane captures and reflects light as a chromatic prism. The final title, however, points outward. 3Cem C C C CE Cchos 3C/em C, a statement says, 3Cem C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C C Cimplies an outside: something that travels outward, rebounds, and returns to us transformed, rather than a space sealed in upon itself 3C/em C.

Presented at Cr E8vec C 93ur in Paris from September 4 to October 10, the exhibition gathers recent oils that chart this perceptual territory. Several works are intimate verticals keyed to the body 19s scale, while others stretch horizontally to suggest extended, foot-borne looking. Titles nod to rhythm, rendezvous, midnight, and nocturnal arcs C 97each inflected by the city 19s mutable light.
